The Jean-Marie Roger Tillard Chair is named after the Dominican theologian, a great figure in the theology of religious life since the Second Vatican Council.
A professor at the Faculty of Theology of the Dominican University College in Ottawa from 1957 onwards, and a visiting professor at a number of other universities, Brother Jean-Marie Roger Tillard died in the year 2000. He leaves behind a large number of works in the fields of religious life, sacramental theology, ecclesiology and ecumenism.
The Jean-Marie Roger Tillard Chair was created by the Dominican University College in 2002 in memory of the Dominican theologian and in recognition of his unique contribution to the advancement of theological research.
