Valentine’s Day has inspired us to offer a unique concert with love songs from the 13th Century, thanks to musicians of a group called La Mandragore. The 13th Century was the era of Thomas Aquinas and also the century the Dominicans started to preach.
Funds gathered that evening will be directed in helping to create the academic chair Benoit-Lacroix. This exceptional Dominican was a Middle-Ages specialist during his teaching career.
As per La Mandragore, they specialize in arranging ancient melodies with unusual instruments from the past.Throughout the years they have recorded albums exploring different eras: 13th and 14th centuries in Spain, 12th century Germany and 10th century Andalusia where Arabs, Jews and Christians mixed harmoniously.
