Today, there are philosophers in almost every professional area. There have always been many people who undertake a deeper reflection about the world around them and about human existence. Philosophy is not only about knowledge, it’s first and foremost a process—a critical analysis and an ongoing meditation on a range of ideas.
Contemporary philosophy is accessible and beneficial to all
It was with this in mind that we founded the Foundation’s new Philosophy Club.We wanted to create a forum that would allow people to get together, learn, share and discuss, a forum that’s open and accessible to anyone with an interest in philosophy.
There’s no need to have studied philosophy to participate, just to enjoy it and to get something out of it. The Philosophy Club events will consist of dinner- discussions featuring well- known and less-well-known guest speakers, who will talk about the authors, ideas, thoughts or books that have guided their career and influenced their life.
The importance of balance
Balance in all aspects of life is one of Raymond Brunet’s core values. He encourages everyone around him, including his employees, to cultivate this important quality. “It’s by being balanced that we can be proactive in the world around us,” he explains.
“This philosophy of life guides my take on the world and nourishes my philanthropic values. I am fortunate to be at the helm of a company with a very positive regional image. In my view, if we are lucky enough to have balance and to be prosperous, then we have a duty to give back.
I don’t just put up buildings, I want to contribute to building a community. That’s why I invest so much in organizations that mean a lot to me and that help maintain an inclusive social fabric—one that is helpful and open to others. By investing in the community, we make it stronger, more united and more… balanced. We all have a role to play.”
